Show mm camp is SELECTED FOR UTAH Comprises 18,700 Acres of Land, Which Is Withdrawn. With-drawn. From Entry. One of the finest permanent maneuver camps in the country was secured for the National Guard of Utah yesterday whon President Wilson, at tho request of Secretary Sec-retary of tho Interior Franklin K. Lnnc, wlthdrow from entry 1S.700 ncrca of land near Sail Ijak& for the use of the guard. Tho land was selected by Adjutant General Gen-eral B. A. Wedgwood, and, at his request re-quest and that of the governor, the sec-rotary sec-rotary of tho Interior recommended the withdrawal of the land. Further than to Eay that tho land Is admirably situated for a. mnneuver camp. Gencrai Wedgwood declined to comment on tho executive- order or-der or to give tho location of tho camp. It Is known to bo within twenty-five miles of Salt Lake, but tho adjutant general gen-eral said he was not authorized to give the location. Tho camp will be used for the permanent perma-nent summer maneuver pfroundR for the members of tho Utah National Guard and such other troops ns may -be assigned to summer oncampment with the Utah guard. It is not likely that it will be used as n mobilization point for the guard In the event it Is ordered to go to the front. Should such orders come, it Is probable that the guard would mobilize at Fort Douglas. Thlrtv days' drill at Fort Douglas will probably bo required bofore the gunrd leaves for the border, unless some grave emergency should call for Immedlato action. |
