Dr. Parkyn said Wunsch, mentioned in tho telegram, is manager of tho plan-tation. plan-tation. which is owned by .1500 other American and British stockholders. Tho Boyd mentioned ho said, is Alex- audcr Boyd of London, cashier of the ' plantation. Mrs. Boyd also was on tho plantation, and two Californians named Pnckham aud Audrows, according to Dr. Parkyn. The names of five more Americans arrested ar-rested by Major Panuclo Marlines and added to those whom ho previously had taken to Cordoba, reached here tonight. These men were taken a few miles out of Vera Cruz from a train. The news of the capture was brought to Vera Cruz by a. nawsboy. Major Martinez took them to Terra Blanca and thence to Cordoba. The men aro W. B. YVoftord of Georgia. Geor-gia. F. W. Lehmcr of Omaha, W. D. Bedford of Michigan, W. C. Desbrow of Now York, and .lames Bllchcr of Buffalo. Buf-falo. All these men are Interested In agriculture ag-riculture In the section in which they were arr-isted. The belief that the federals intended to execute at' least four of the prisoners was ained from tho conversation, of tho rollers rol-lers who captured them, which was overheard by passengers on the train. Tho prisoners were taken to Cordoba and, It is believed, later were transferred to Orizaba, a point nearer tho capital. Elshteen Americans still are In Tlerra Blanca, among them J. O. Cook, chief engineer of the Isthmus railway; J. O. Schneider. J. D. Longston. C. P. Harrison, Harri-son, Wife and children, and Mr. and Mrs, George McComber. An Indirect report received hero today from Mexico City said that a mob attempted at-tempted to bum the terminal of the Mexican Mex-ican railway, but was prevented by President Huerta's troops. Tho Mexicans are confiscating all the locomotives and rolling stock of the Mexican Mex-ican railway and concentrating them at Aplzaco. an hour's run south of the capital. capi-tal. All the engineers of that line have been held and sent to Orizaba. Tho train dispatcher at Orizaba was arrested, but released later and told to leave. Police court affairs in Vera Cruz were administered today by a naval lieutenant, who was kept busy hearing the cases or Mexicans who had been picked up by the patrols or arrested during the recent fighting. Ho proved to bo a leniont magistrate, much to the surprise of tho Mexicans, many of whom believed the "gringo" would order their execution. Thomas B. Hohler, the British charge d'affaires, who had charge of the train which brought the refugees from the capital hero tast night. Intended to return re-turn to tho capital tonight. The British cruiser Hermlono. which, although a neutral vessel, has been engaged en-gaged in the removal of Americans from Tamplco, reports that only a few ore now there. Rear Admiral Fletcher today received tho congratulations of Secretary Daniels. The admiral conveyed to the officers and men his own appreciation of their "splendid conduct, which gained for them tho highest approbation of the secretary of tho navy. |
