Show UTAH ENGINEERS GRITCDJITER A charter has been granted by the executive board of the American Institute In-stitute of Mining Engineers for the organization or-ganization of a Utah local of tho national na-tional association, or a Utah-Nevada local. This is the word received in Salt Lake this weok by members of tho national na-tional organization who aro' back of tho movement to form a local branch of tho institute. It, G. Oemmell was formally advised by President B. B. Thayer of the national na-tional organization that tho chartor bad been granted, and Mr. Gcnmioll has been named as chairman of tlio organization committee. Mr. Gemmoll has f orwardod to Prcsidont Thayer the following names and suggested that Ihoy bo appointed on tho organizing committee to act with him: Duncan McVichie, G. W. Tlitcr, Lafayette Eanchett, George Blood and Ernest Gayford, The chartor provides that if the mining min-ing engineers in Nevada who are members mem-bers ot tho national organization wish to join witn tho Utah mombors, thoy may do so and tho new branch will be known as tho Utah-Nevada local. Tn the event that tho Nevada men do not care to join, tho Utah members of tho national association will proceed with a soparato organization. Local mining engineers are anxious to get the new local organized in order that they may take up tho work of preparing pre-paring for the annual convention of tho national association to be held in Salt Lake in August. A fund of $10,000 is being raised among the mining companies compan-ies for tho entertainment of tbo visitors, ana i.uc convention will bring to this city many of tho most famous mining engineers in tho world.
