The mysterious disappearance dis-appearance of ft number of shells and cartridge cases from the Point batteries. Portsmouth. Is engaging the attention of the military authorities nnd police. It appears that durlnc; the last two months the stores have been depleted by about a dozen twelvc-poundcr shells Ulled with blank charges, us well as a number of empty shells of the same size, and forty empty cartridge cases. There are no barracks attached -to the batteries, but sentries are always ou sua rd.
