Theodore Roosevelt has sent a dispatch from Manaon to Dr. Lauro Mueller, the Brazilian minister of foreign affairs, thanking him and .tho Brazilian government govern-ment for its solicitudo during his stay in South America. Mr. Roosevelt reached Manaos April 30, after an extended trip through the unexplored interior of Brazil, and he left Manaos yesterday on thc steamer Dunstan on his way down the Amazon "vor-. . In his communication to the foreign minister Mr. Roosevelt says: "Our journey was ono of hardship and at times dangerous, but it was very successful. For thirty-five days wo were out of sight of human habitation. We followed thc course of the river for over 900 miles." Mr. Roosevelt will go down to Para at thc mouth of the Amazon, on the Dunstan. At Para he will transfer to the steamer Pancrans for Barbadoes. |
