J,; (1 Manager Jackson McChrystal of the - ; '( Gemini, Eureka Hill and Godiva mines 5 1 f ' -web ont from the capital on Tuesday ' ! r i and Wednesday, makinp an inspection I 1 of these properties and finding evcry- I t thinft moving along in a very fiatis- I ' i factory manner, cays tho Eureka Re- Jj f j porter, j All three of those mines are being j i operated under tho leasing system, ii heaviest; shipper being the Gomiui. A monthly output of over 2000 tons is ' I now coming from tho Gemini mine, the , oro having a gross value of from $25 ' to $30 por ton. Most of tho mine's lov-oIb, lov-oIb, botwocn tbo -100 and tho water, nro being -worked and it is not unusual for !; . tho leasers to got into ore of oxecp- ) tional value. In following small etriiig- i ers of ore exposed in the older worj:- ! lngs of tho mine tho IcasorH havo do- .' veloped aomo ver' rich oro; and it is eaid that in no other Tintic property I has iho leasing systom-bcen so satis- j i , factory to all concerned. Preparations are now being made for the reopening of tho Godiva mine, and , according to Mr. McChrystal this work J i mil bo handled by tho Fairbnrn Lcas- 1' i ing company, organized for that pur- ' pose. Mr. Pairburn has for somo timo ! Deon operating a lease in tho Gemini i ; ' mino and in the noar future ho will 1 ' probablv givo most of his attention to j ' the Godiva property, some of his nsso- j ciates being interested with him in the j new leasing enterprise. I ' Shaft Down 1200 Feet. i . i The machinery at tho Godiva is now boincr overhauled and put in condition j ! for use and somo shaft repairs are also ! 1 L being made. Tho company's shaft I j , reaches a depth of 1200 feet, although , 1 there has been but little prospecting bo- 1 low tho 000 level, aud if tho showing j justifies it tho oilicials of tho leasing r ' ' company may decide to go to greater J depth. For the present, however, the ' work will oo confined to tho 700, 000 1 5 .w4 and 1200 levels, but lator some pros- I Dccting Trill bo done nearer the surface. sur-face. In the Godiva tho largest ore depos-j depos-j its wero founu between the 700 and 900 ! Iovoib. and thcro is said to be a con- fidorablo quantity of low-grado oro exposed ex-posed in various parts of tho mine. If tiie showing of low-grndo oro will justify jus-tify it 'th6 company's milling plant will ; agnin bo put 12. oporatioa. Will Prospect 1200. Mnnager McChrystal says that one of i tne first pieces of development work to be tnken up at tho Godiva will be tho thorough prospecting of the 1200 level. If the oro bodies, located above, extend to that depth thoro is a splendid chance of an incrcaso in tho values, and at any raio it is nbout tho most promising prospecting that can bo taken up. J .ur. McChrystal says that there is nothing new with reference to the Eureka Eu-reka Hill property, where Brayton Campbell and 0. M. Dull are making preparations to handle the big tailings Sdumn. They aro still on tho ground for tho purpose of checking up their laboratory tests on a somewhat larger scale. So far tholr tests havo been favorable fa-vorable and it. is almost certain that Mossrs. Campbell and Ihill will construct con-struct a cyanide plant and immediately commence tne treatment of this low-grado low-grado ore. TJio dump contains nearly 200.000 tons. Manner Loose states that while no effort is beinp mndo to crowd the mino's tonnace, the Gold Chain is now producing a Jittlo less than a carload per day and that the general condition of the mine is moro favorable than it has been for some Jittlo time. About one-half of tho presont output is being takon from tho 1000 and 1 150 levels, this work being dono some distance dis-tance to tho west of the shaft and nt a point that is nenrly 1000 feet away from the otuer oro chnnnol. Tho ore that is now being taken from the 1000 and 1150 levels Is a silver-lead product of verv good grado, while in the othor pnrt of the mino the copper values pro-dominate. pro-dominate. Iron Blossom Showing. During tlio past week thero has beon a very noticeable improvement in the No. 3" workings. o the Iron Blossom, tho oro having been followed to a point some instance above tho 400 level. Heretofore tlio oro soomcd to make only between the 400 and 500 levels, in fha't particular part of tho property. During tno month of April "the Opo-hongo Opo-hongo has marketed thrco carloads of ore, or about 150 tons, worth probablv between 3000 and $4000. Tho past two or three months it has been grnd-uallv grnd-uallv increasing its output. ' |
