Show S'HB Tvhirl of Rayety promised for THl the post-Lenton season, supposed jVgo into effect at Eastor, has failed materialize. A kind of lethargy jjljns to rest upon Salt Lalco society present, relicvod. only by some prompt prom-pt weddings. The reason for the iilnoH of tho Inst Tveek can perhaps be iRTfled 0 tho weather, which has Jny sins to answer for, as well as (jjjR an ever present help in flapping tevereation, so in lieu, of Homething ito exciting, discussion of its contrary ods may answer. Por instance, with to Country club open and tho. season tand' for out-of-door diversions, lawn irties, baseball and such like, how A one realize tho fact with a driz-fog driz-fog rain beating against tho window Siea or chilling breezes dulling enthu-Mtn enthu-Mtn for lingering in the open. Even S roses on one's spring hat have looked fotbitten and the spring blossoms BDied to shiver, as if they had awaked awak-ed in a strange atmosphere To show that tho society lassitude not confined to Salt Lake, the folding fol-ding wail cornea from a society oor-ipondeut oor-ipondeut in a San Francisco paper: J really thought that when the L'enton season, or at least our pretense pre-tense nt it. for that was all it was with many of us this year, was over there would bo one mad round of revelry. For even if we dance and play the snmo in season bs out, there is a certain jubilant feeling in the idea that wo can Spoilt-if wo want to and do not have to mufflo our voices. But lurcly wo arc walking to the tune pt muffled drums these days, for rc-'ro a lot duller than Lent. t: ' INCE the time for weddings is at i h.ind, a novelty introduced in a liety wedding in New York will prove interest. The innovation, will hardly tft with favor, howover, for weddings b Israel- governed by tradition and I; man usher, with his dark evening thes and spotless expanso of white it front, is as much a part of a wed-ig wed-ig as the veiled bride, with tho veil sferabl- belonging to tho bride's ndmothcr, caught with the beloved inge blossoms, connected with wed gs for ages; as the Lohengrin bridal (rus and Mendelssohn 's inspiring wed-g wed-g march. All of these things one nt) ociates with tho ideal wedding and trt'i y have grown to bo considered, as prt of birthright of those who plight lr vows of love, as traditional set- ting has grown to be a part of the real ceremony.
