Show DECORATE CITY FOR VISITIiPLUlEIS Electricians String Lines of Vari-Colored Lights; Travel in Special Trains. Preparations for the national plumbers convention, which opens hero Tuesday, took a visible form yesterday, when gangs of electricians and decorators began dressing the city in the gala attire that will prevail whllo tho plumbers arc here. Ropes of red. white and blue lights wero strung across the principal streets at short Intervals, and every trolley pole on cither side of Main street from South Temple to First South street was draped in bunting. Before the convention opens this scheme of decoration will have been carried out throughout the main business district. Local plumbers are busily engaged with plans for reception and entertainment of the delegates as thoy arrive. Tho first parties are expected to reach Salt -Lake Sunday. Tho Cleveland delegates will arrive at 8 o'clock Sunday morning1 In a special train of eight cars, coming over tho Denver & "Rio Grande road. The train Is in charge of C. B. Patterson, passenger pas-senger representative of the Santa Fe, over which road the train travels from Chicago to Denver. Hurry Cushlng, travollng passenger ngont for tho Denver Den-ver &. Rio Grande, will meet tho train at Denver and accompany it to Salt Lake. The delegates from St. Louis and Kansas Kan-sas City will arrive at :30 o'clock Sundav afternoon and those from Wisconsin will arrive at 2;?0 o'clock Monday afternoon. Tho Commercial club board of governors gover-nors has authorized an appropriation of $2000 to be used along with the general fund for tho entertainment of delegates. The announcement previously mado that tho appropriation from tho club amounted to $3000 was Incorrect. An additional feature of the programme arranged yesterday by the local committees commit-tees was for nn excursion to Bingham on July 10 over the Bingham & GarMeld roud. The train will leave the Ilarrlman depot at 3:30 o clock In the morning and will be held at Bingham three hours so that ample time may be allowed tho visitors to Inspect tho workings of the mines and smelters. |
