Show HILLES PREPAPJNG FOR THE CAMPAIGN NEW YORK, July 12. National headquarters head-quarters from which the campaign of the Republican' party will be directed will be established here next week. James B. Reynolds, secretary of the Republican national na-tional committee, announced tonight that about fifteen rooms on the tenth and eleventh floors of the Times building had been engaged. Mr. Reynolds will be In active charge, Branch offices will be established as early as possible, Mr. Reynolds said, one In Chicago for the middle west and one somewhere on the Pacific coast. Charles D. Hillcs. President Taft's secretary sec-retary and chairman of the Republican national committee, will spend much of his time at headquarters here, the length of his stay, according to Mr. Reynolds, to be determined by the trend of the campaign in the eastern states. Mr. Hllles's presence In the mlddlo west and on the Pacific coast will undoubtedly bo regarded advisable, Mr. Reynolds declared, de-clared, and the national chairman will make at least one trip all the way across the continent, putting himself In personal touch with Taft leaders and managers along the route. Regarding a report that William Barnes, Jr., might take charge of national headquarters head-quarters here, Mr. Reynolds explained that as chairman of the Republican state committee Mr. Barnes's activities would be confined to state headquarters In I his city. The Republican national committee, probably the whole committee and not the subcommittee, will meet here next Frldny, Mr. Reynolds announced. Campaign in Kansas. TOPEICA. Kan.. July 12. The progressive pro-gressive party of New Mexico today Issued Is-sued a call for a state convention to be held at Albuquerque July 29 to elect four delegates to the national progressive convention at Chicago. Thomas Taggart, Democratic national committeeman committee-man from Indiana., who, after the national nation-al convention, announced his resignation, will continue In active political work, the Indiana Democratic committee today refusing re-fusing to accept his resignation.
