Show CHASES BURGLAR BY FIRING AT HIS HEELS P. J. Sheive Returns From Theater to Tind Thief; Loads Eovolver and Shoots at Him. A littlo game of bark rovolver and jump burglar was staged in the rear yard of the homo of P. J. Sheive, 41 J Tenth avenue, at 11:-15 o'clock last night. Mr. Sheive had started to undress un-dress for bed when he heard some one at the back of tho house. He loaded a revolver and hurried out tho back way. The burglar was- running through the lot toward Eleventh avenuo when Mr. Sheive saw him and opened lire. Two shots- .jumped the marauder out of sight. Tho man with the gun thought he might have hit tho fleeing one at the second shot but no blood could be found. ""We had just returned from the theater the-ater a few minutes before tho follow stnrtod working at the back door," said Mr. Shoive. "Tf I hadn't, had to load tho revolver I might have succoeded in stopping him." Patrolmen Egbert, Crosby and Wil-lcy Wil-lcy wore sent to investigate after Mr. Sheive telephoned to the police. They found footprints in tho garden evidencing evidenc-ing elongated strides on the part of the burglar, but the trail could not be followed fol-lowed beyond tho rear fence of the yard. |
