Show GETS "WATCH" BACK. Pickpocket Returns by Mall Dummy Timepiece Worn by Jewelor. Special to The Tribune. OGD13N, May 2S. Inclosed in a roughly-made pustoboard box, Charles Wright, a local Jeweler, received by mail today a "phony" watch which was picked from his pocket nt the circus grounds last Monday. The watch, which consisted of a case only, together with a brlGtlj' polished but cheap fob, had been worn by Mr Wright for the 6ole purpose of playing a. Joke on the pickpockets who are supposed to trail along with circuses. In the case he had placed a note which read: "You fool, send this back to 224 Twenty-fifth street, Ogden. Utah." Mr. Wright was somewhat puzzled when he read the following note, which accompanied accom-panied tho watch on Its return to him: "Vou oockcye, next time you' come to a circus bring a good watch. This one Is no good to me. I am a blind squaw and have got to have a watch that ticks. You are a worse sucker than some of the customers you get." The jeweler displayed the dazzling fob very consplcouoiisly when he went to the circus grounds, but he was not aware when the decoy watch was taken from him. |
