Show REAR-END COLLISION. Pas3ongcr Strikes Freight Cabooie at Lehl; Passenoera Shaken Up, But No One Injured. Special to The Tribune. LiEHI, Dec 5. Just a3 the southbound passenger train on tho Salt Lake Route-was Route-was getting under steam after leaving tho Lohl station this morning, it rounded a curve and collided with the rear end of a ciboo3e and twelve freight cara that were standing on the main line. The cars had been left on the main line while the engine and another car had gono a half mile on a branch Uric to the sugar factoo'. A number of the passengers were plied onto the seats in front of them and sev-oral sev-oral were thrown violently to the floor, but none was seriously Injured. The passenger engine had Us pilot demolished, de-molished, the boiler head broken In and otherwise was placed out of commission, and a now engine was sent from Salt Lake City. The caboose of the freight j wns telescoped and shattered considerably, consider-ably, but followed the train south. |
