One was brought irom Hamburg especially for the Wagnerian Wag-nerian revival; a harpist accompanies thc band, being an exceptionally good player, and one cornetist Is a soloist of worldwide world-wide reputation. Mrs. Joseph Dunfee, a soprano, has been engaged for this tour and will sing every afternoon and evening. even-ing. She possesses a rich voice of beautiful beauti-ful finality. While attending Cornell university Conway began his musical career. Ho organized a band which took a prize, and 'he regents of the university decided that he was deserving of support. He accepted accept-ed a proposition to as3inno Instruction and direction of a college band. Later he organized the Ithaca City band. In which some of thc students frequently played, and he made1 tours about the state. From this grew a larger organization organiza-tion until a full-fledged concert baud was the result. Conway displays a genius for selecting mpsicians who are individually talented, and his unqualified success has been the result. In directing his band, over which he holds perfect control, he has a striking manner. Ho stands in an erect altitude before his music rack and his motions are hardly noticeable; a glance at one musician and a nod at an-, other brings forth tho desired tone. Although Conway has reason to feel proud of his band, he Is willing to give credit to every member who fits perfectly perfect-ly In his organization Despite his own modesty, many think that It is the genial "Pat" himself who is largely responsible for the success that has attended the band everywhere.
