DEPARTMENT KEEPS TAB ON BUTTONS AND LACES Special to The Tribune. WASHINGTON. April 7. No more may the gallant trooper whisp a shining brass button from his uniform and chivalrously chiv-alrously pin It on the palpitating bosom of his lady love. The practice has cost Undo Sam a pretty sum annually, and must be slopped. The war department has issued a bulletin stating that in future fu-ture buttons must be accounted for and may not be dropped when worn out. These, as well as boot and breeches laces, arc considered a permanent part of tho uniform and must hereafter be reported when lest or become unserviceable. i
