President Pisher spoke brietly of what was meant by Associated Boys' clubs of Utah, and said that a misunderstanding mis-understanding had gained ground as regards re-gards to the scope of the association as a whole. The opening song of the convention, "Isly Country, 'Tis of Thoe," was sung with a vim by the entire assemblage. Apostle David O. McKay, when introduced, in-troduced, delivered a broad and com-nrchensive com-nrchensive address. Apostle McKay broueht out many of tho finer points which go to make the life of a boy wholesome and good. "Boys," said Mr. "McKay during his recital, "don't you think it would be a good thing if the state of Utah expended money "for boys' clubs, instead of erecting slate prisons?" Tho speaker contended thai, this state-wide club' movement would be tho means of creating a sentiment which would ,bo lasting among the people, and that every city should lend its hearty support toward placing the hirrhe'r ideal bofore tho boy at all times. Give Creditable Drill. At the evening session E. R. Perkins, Jr., delivered an address upon "Practical "Prac-tical Methods in Boys' Bible Class Work." Mr. Perkins spoke of man' excellent plans to follow for a wide view of this subject, and gavo several interesting illustrations' pertaining to this great work. Following there was a demonstration of different kinds of boys' club work. The boy scouts from Provo gavo a surprising exhibition in marching and regular military drill. Other clubs represented rep-resented -wcro the Stickers P. 0. Salt Lake City; Knight's of King Arthur, Ar-thur, Wasatch Castle of Logan; Knights of the Holy Grail, Park Castle No. 224, Park City,' a nd Tin tic- Titans, Eureka. The crowd Friday evening was exceedingly ex-ceedingly large. Many of the boys who canio to the city equipped with blankets will sleep at the Y. M. C. A. in true camp style. Large wrestling mats were thrown about the gymnasium flour and the youngsters -were sent to bed promptly prompt-ly at 10 o'clock. |
