Show STATE LAI BOARD IN iEM KETII8 Final Details of Taking Over of Forest Reserve School Lands to Be Fixed. The stale land bourd will moot In regular reg-ular session today. Only routine business busi-ness will W considered In the early sessions, ses-sions, but before iho board adjourns It will, in all probability, arrnugo the final details of the taking over from the government gov-ernment of the 211.000 acres of state school lands In the forest reserve. Tho state will lease these lands itaclf now. The details that will probably be arranged at the board meeting today or Wednesday will be under Just whal terms these lands will be leased, for instance, in-stance, as to how long and how much per acre. It Is possible that n maximum price of 10 cents an aero will be fixed. This will bring the state something like J-0.000 a year. Under the old system the state got only about S1W10 or $2000 a year out of the lands. William II. Farnsworth. secretary of the board. Is now in tho poini-wlth-prlde class. Mr. Farnsworth. by pulling In somi? overtime, has been a hlo lo collect most of the money due the state, through the land board. In tho neighborhood of $10 payments were received Monday and that many receipts Issued. This brings tho receipts of the office for the last twenty or thirty days to something like $3-10,000. nnd some of the employe. in the office are threatened with writer's cramp. Mr. Farnsworth wiys that within with-in a few days all the payments will bo collected. Usually these payments have not all come in unlll along in February or March. |
