Brewer and the old city council hag passed into history. l-or the purposo of transacting all unfinished un-finished business of un urgent nature, tho old city council held Its last meeting meet-ing this morning nt 11 o'clock, when several matters were passed upon. The meeting was tho occasion for addresses by the retiring mayor and most or the members of the old council. Mayor Brewer said that ho leaves his offlco with the kindliest feelings and he hopes that since there Is much room fori improvement, tho new administration will make an enviable record. Councllmcn Powers, Dana, Browning, Dlokson and .Wilson and City Attorncv Dcvlne also spoke along similar lines. At the conclusion of all unfinished business. Councilman Peery moved thai the old council adjourn sine die, and Councllmcn Samuel Thomas and H. .1. Powers vacated their scats for John II. Larson and James J. Barker, their successors. suc-cessors. The bonds of the new city officers of-ficers and the members of the city council coun-cil for tho next two years were passed upon and approved and the following appointments ap-pointments confirmed. Tllllc H. Poultcr. deputy recorder; Gusslo Purdy, assistant deputy recorder: Elsie Mann, stenographer stenog-rapher to tho city attorney, and C. T. Koons, deputy city treasurer. Tho confirmation of tho appointment or W. D. Van Dyke. Jr.. as deputy city auditor, and I. N. Fulton as clerk of tho municipal court, was deferred until a meeting of the now council, which will be held Ticxt Monday evening nt S o'clock. Tho officers of the new administration arc: Mayor, "Bill" Glasmann; recorder. Carl Allison; auditor, Florence O. Stanford; Stan-ford; treasurer, Thomns B. jrarr; city attorney, James H. Dcvlne: municipal judge, J. D. Murphy; Councllmcn, John Austin, GeorKC Wilson, Charles Hum-phrls, Hum-phrls, J. II. Larson. Joseph Dana, J. J. Barger. Chris Flygaro, Horace Pocry, Samuel Browning, Dr. George A. Dickson. Dick-son. Those of the officials who were newly elected at the Novomber election are the mayor and Councllmcn Barker and Larson. |
