Show IMPORTANT BASEBALL RULING ANNOUNCED National Baseball Commission Refuses Request of Class C and I) Leagues. CINCINNATI. O , Jan. :.--ln a. decision reached today by Thomas J. Lynelu president of the National league: Ban B. Johnson. pr"sldent of tho American league, and August Herrmann of Cincinnati, Cincin-nati, composing the National Baseball commission, the latter body tonight denied de-nied the request of clats C and I) leagues for an amendment of tne rule concerning the purchase of minor league playerti. Tho attention of the commission was called to the case by J. TI. Farrell. set -rotary of the American association, who submitted a resolution offered at the recent meeting held at Memphis by the class C and I leagues, requesting that rule ."fi be amended so that minor league playera can be purchased by one minor league club from another without having such players report to the purchasing eiub on or before ihe oiniiieiiceinent of the major league drafting season. As the rule now stands, when minor league players are purchased by one minor h-ngno club from another, and they do not report by Septemher 1, they are subject to draft from the clubs that they arc with on August 20. The commission. In its ruling. sas: "We reiterate that. If the rule were changed so a.-) to cover the request as now made, it would be detrimental not only to the major leagues and class A clubs, but all playera operating under organized or-ganized baseball as. well. "The statement recently issued by the National commission shows the amounts operated by major league clubs alone last year for drafted nnd purchased players to be about $:!00.0H0. and.
