Show GEMINI COMPANY ! 1L1KEPEI Management Satisfied That Oro I Will Be Found in Lower Levels. CHIEF CONSOLIDATED IS MAINTAINING SHIPMENTS All Sections of Tintio District Dis-trict Are Showing Activity. Special to The Tribune. EUREKA. -Ian. .1. When Iho Utile Chief mine was started, some, twelve years ago. by the late T. D. Sullivan, it II Kas predicted that the property would develop into one of the preatcsi producers of the Tintic district, and of late this Is. indeed, proving to bo the case. Since the Chief Consolidated company took over the holdings of the Little Chief compnny. a erarch has been mnde for the ores at depth, and the results have been more, than patlsfactory. the shipments from the mine averaging now six carloads of hish-grado ore every week. The property prop-erty Is located in tho heart of the Tintii: district mineralization, and the workings arc within the city limits. During the year a lnrgc amount of money "has been expended, not only in development work, but in erecting now buildings, adding up-to-date- machinery and equipping the property complete In every detail. The Eureka City -Mining company, which recently obtained the rlcht. to mlno beneath the Enrekn town-site, town-site, is under the same management as tho Chief Consolld.-Ucd. Walter Fitch be-inc be-inc general manager and superintendent of" both properties, and it Is the intention inten-tion to develop the territory of the I5u- reka City company through the lower levels of the Chief Consolidated, the pre diction being that fortunes will be taken from the ore deposits underlying the old town. Mr FItcn recently paid the Eureka Eu-reka City treasury 510,000 for the privilege privi-lege of mining under the homesteads of the little city. Gemini Also in Game. The Gemini company has also recently purchased the right to search for mineral min-eral underneath the city of Eureka. In property owned by tho city and adjoining adjoin-ing claims already controlled by tho Gemini people. The company paid $1000 to the city council for this right of mining min-ing , General Manager Jackson McChryslul of the Gemini will also start at once to sink in the main shaft at the mine, l which has already attained a depth of i 1G00 feet Some work, however, has been. done below this level, and the results have bfen of such an encouraging nature that the management Is confident that the mine will open np at Its best as depth Is attained. At a depth of 1900 feet, it Is said, some of the richest ore ' which ever came out of the Tintic district dis-trict lias been found, and on the 1700 and 1S00 levels, also, the product is particular par-ticular high class. The management will send the main shaft down to the 2000-foot level, and will continue development devel-opment from this point. The large electric pump built for the Gemini people and installed al the mine some time ago to handle the water surplus sur-plus has proven to be very satisfactory and will. It Is believed, bo found equal to anv emergency which may arise. The sfrlklhe of the main shaft to additional depth will not only open np a considerable considera-ble extent, of new territory, but it will 1 make possible tho more economical han dling of tho water, and the greater dc- jj vclopmcnt of the mine generally. J Other Activities. t C. W. Clark, formerly superintendent of the Eagle fc Blue Bell mine, is In 3 charge of the work recently starled on tile U'lcklow property in East Tintic. Tho IF, old tunnel, which Is In a distance of fifty fert. is being cleaned out. and retimbercd P preparatory to the. Inauguration of a cum- fl paign of active development. s At the Cllft property. .Tudge Frank Thornbrg and George Paxman have con- H sldcrable ore exposed, a shipment liav- I Ing been made during the week, and It is H promised that regular production will be U maintained hereafter. Such showings ,i speak well for th" future possIbl!lics of ( the south end of the district. I The Silver City end of the district Is j at the present time experiencing a general gen-eral revival of interest and activity. A II number of the old properties arc being J profitably operated by leasers, and old ii prospects also are being worked again. D Good miners have no difficulty In finding D work in this 'end of the ramp. Judge 8 J. V. Green Is working his old claims. 8 the Silver Horn group, on Julian Lane jj hill, and the Pacific Mining company Is 5 perfecting plans for extensive dcvelop-H dcvelop-H ment of Its lioldings. Gabe Westburg and Robert. Long have jl developed rntlte a substantial oro body f in th old T'ndine property, and are mak- 1 ing shipments of high-crad" silver-lend j ore. The results attending the develop- 1 ment work in general are highly cucotir- aging, and go to show that Silver City la still far from being a "dead one." North Tintic. Len DcLong and Irving H. Spriggs have I completed the annual assessment work on the Electric group of claims owned by j thni and located In North Tintic, and I tho showing made has been such as to ft lad to thg determination to continue de- J v-tMopmcnt work Indefinitely on this 1 ground. . , I Work is still going ahead. at the Black Jack property, a drift now br;ing run ) through a soft and highly-mineralized J formation which It hi expected will make j into high-grade ore in tho near future, j As a matter of economy, the. waste from I tho drifting operations is being dumped into an old winze, which does away with j the. expensive hoisting operations. I Lcasere on the old Joe Bowers property 3 are following a stringer of rich silvor- ! lead ore In their work, and they expect I In the near future to make a profitable shipment of the product they are now extracting. ex-tracting. In the early days high silver values were the feature of the Joe Bowers ore. and it is stated that the old producer is still far from being entirely en-tirely worked out. When promised capital enters the Tintic Tin-tic Held. It is thought that other old properties, such as the Martha Washington, Washing-ton, Picnic and Cleopatra, will attract the attention of Investing operators, and. If such is the case, an active revival of old-tlmo old-tlmo productiveness Is promised |
