Idaho now has a Mormon governor, I he first and only one the state has ever had. The governor is Hon. John W. Hart, bishop of Mcnan ward of Rlgby stake of Zion. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints. The constitution provides that In the absence from tho state of the governor, the lieutenant-governor shall act In his stead, and In the absenco of tho lieutenant-governor, tho duties shall devolve upon the president of the senate pro tern. It Is not believed that Governor Hart will find It necessary to come to Boise to remain, although It is not improbable that ofllclal duties will call him hero. There arc various executive duties which he may bo called upon to perform, even though he should not feel disposed to Issue a call for a special session of tho legislature or to do other things that might set tho wheels to revolving in on untoward manner. In case extradition papers should bo required, no one would bo authorized to perform those duties except Senator Hart. |
