Show CHRISTIANSEN RECEIVES AN APPRECIATED GIFT D. IT Christcnscn. superintendent of the city's public schools, lias received from the pupils of the Riverside school a large crate of vegetables gathered from seeds furnished by the department of agriculture at Washington, D. C , as an aid to the nature study department of tho school system. In addition lo planting plant-ing and growing t lie seeds, the pupils were required to make reports and write essays on tlu subject of gardening, describing de-scribing the processes by which the seeds wore grown. The crate received by Mr. Christcnscn Christcn-scn Included sunnplcs of parsnip,s. tomatoes toma-toes of different varieties, beets and other garden products. All were- excellent ex-cellent samples. The girls wvro furnished fur-nished with flower seeds a I the time that the vegetable seeds were distributed, dis-tributed, and Mr. C'hristcnsen received soxeral pretty bouquets of asters, dahlias and marigolds with the vegetable sun-pic.:. sun-pic.:. A report on the results of the work will be made to the federal department of agriculture. |
