Show TRAINING EXPERIMENT PROVES BIG SUCCESS By Associated Press. NEW YORK, April 2. Not for years have tho horses in training at tho Long Island traekhbcen in as advanced a condition con-dition at this season as they are now. The warm weather has afforded the trainers every opportunity, and though no work of a sensational character lias been reported from Gravescnd, Sliccps-head Sliccps-head Bay or Belmont park, a greater number of horses aro ready for the speed trials than ever before. All through the winter months thero has been practically prac-tically a clean bill of health from each of tho training stables and the handlers have a rugged lot to work on for the coming campaign. One marked change in the winter programme pro-gramme appears to have been a great benefit, the scheme of permitting tho horses to run out in the paddocks during the cold weather. This seems to have resulted in more excellent physical condition con-dition than tho old system whereby the horses went into retirement in the fall and wero babied and 'blanketed all winter win-ter long in warm stnlls. |
