Show 1 American Pork News Special to The Tribune. AMERICAN FORK. Aug. S. Mayor James T. Gardner of this city has proclaimed pro-claimed that Wednesday. August 11, will bo a holiday and thaC all business throughout the city will bo suspended, In honor of the veterans of tho Grand Army of the Republic, who are now encamped in Salt Lake City. At the last meeting of the city council It was decided to continue in force tho present ordinance which closes up all drug stores and othor establishments on Sunday. For the past month tho business busi-ness men Interest sd have been circulating a petition, which was freely signed, having hav-ing for its object the rescinding of this ordinance. This, however, was offset, In the minds of the members of the city council, by a petition which was circulated circu-lated by tho combined Sunday-schools of tho four wards of this city. A petition Is being circulated by tho Bunk of American Fork for the privilege of allowing it to extend tho stono steps of the now bank building, which Is In course of erection, onto the sidewalk for three feet. There Is now a city ordinance which prevents such encroachment on the sidewalk. Reuben Chlpman Is preparing to ship to tho eastern market seven carloads of mutton It Is estimated that between sevcntv-flvc and 100 cars of spring mutton mut-ton will bo sent out of this place during the present month. James J-I. Clarke, cashier of the Utah Banking company, also a dry-land farmer, has just completed the harvesting and threshing of 2200 bushels of wheat from, ninety acres of dry land In Cedar valley. |
