Tn those who know and understand, there Is no doubt that with the exception of Paderewpkl, Lhevlnno is the greatest master of the piano heard In Salt Lake for years. In the Bach-nu.onl "Chn-conno," "Chn-conno," hla left-hand - work was little t short of marvelous. The Scnrlattl-TnnslB "Sonate" was shaded to a nicety, while the magnificent "Carneval" of. Schumann, embodying every mood and a wealth of color, was rendered with a skill and com-pr'hen.!on com-pr'hen.!on approaching perfection. The Chopin selections showed artistic response to the composer's moods, while the better known and more popular "Blue Danube" (Schuls-Kvler) was received with a tumult of npplatisn. Personally, 1-hfvlnne Is unaffected and charming to meet. This Is his second American tour, and he is delighted with the. reception that he has. everywhere received. re-ceived. Too much of an artist to permit the slr.c of the audience- to affect I1I3 playing, his only comment was: "I hope to pec more music lovers when I come again." |
