Show I CARLES PRICE STILL HOLDSON TO MONEY Special to The Tribune. OGOEN. March 29. Since the, recent confession of Qlaud V., Wells, at Portland, Port-land, OK, that he Is the man who mailed $2-110 to this city, addressed to Charles Price, last November, and that the money was a portion of the loot stolen by a gang of expert bank wreckers from th'o hast Sldo bank of Portland, the question lias been asked whether or not Charles Prlco, the plasterer living at Five Points, near this city, who received tho mysterious package, will turn It over to the bunk from which Wells savs It was stolen. In reply to tho question today, one of tho attornoys whom Prlco retained shortly after receiving tho money, mon-ey, said emphatically that the money will not be rclcnsed by his client until tho owner shows ample proof of his title to It. This confession of Wells and tho refusal of Price to turn over the money, adds to the complexity of the case. -With Prlco tho bcncllclary of the legal axiom possession Is nine points of tho law." There Is now ponding a suit brought by the United States govornmcnt over p. month ago against Price to collect the money. If the government succeeds in getting possession of the. money, which prominent lawyers regard as doubtful, Price will of course bo eliminated from tho legal tight which will naturally follow fol-low between the government and the Portland claimants. Regarding all of the claims as well founded. It naturally appears ap-pears that Prlco holds the balance of power, as the cash Is stl'l In his possession. |
