Tt comprised Georgo Allen, his wife and four children." There are two plrls, in and li years old. respectively, and two boys, A and 17 years old. Allen, who Is a lumber Jack, arrived ar-rived in the city last Saturday and ho and his. family are now penniless and unable un-able to secure work. They applied to Mr. Iu!idlcr? for assistance and he is dolncr what ho can to keep the wolf from the door, until Allen can secure work. Allep Is a uucer combination. Ho does not believe In killing or skinning animals, and, ns a result, he docs not believe In wearing footgear made from the skins of i animals. Accordingly, ho and his wlfo and children wear moccasins made of canvas. Mr. Laindberg suggested to Allen Al-len that if he should secure a job working work-ing In a trench ho would havo to provide pro-vide himself with shoes or boots, but Allen Al-len replied that he had never worn anything any-thing but canvas shoes and would keen on doing so. Allen Is not n believer In thoators or amusement places, and his daughters anil older son. although fairly well educated for their ages, have never been inside of a theater or other place of amusement Mr. L.undbcrg has made temporary provision pro-vision for the fnmlly, and will endeavor to secure work for Allen. Allen originally lived In Missouri, but went from theio to California and from California to Oregon. |
