IN 11)11 Visitors Will Bo Taken on "Seeing" Trip and Otherwise Other-wise Pleased. A large number of delegates, representatives repre-sentatives of tho Modern Woodmen of America, on their way to the grand encampment and convention at Peoria, 111., will arrive in Salt Lake City early Thursday morning aud will be received by about twenty representatives of the two lodges here, Excelsior and Great Salt Lake camps. After a good breakfast break-fast of Zion cooking, they -will be taken in hand aud shown .just the. kind of a time the fun-makers of this city arc capable of providing. Sightseeing cars and automobiles will bo brought into use and tho visitors will be taken all over th-? cit'. They will also be given a special organ recital at tho tabernacle. taberna-cle. It is thought that this occasion will bo an especially opportune time to receive the delegates who aro expected ex-pected to become boosters for the movement move-ment to obtain .the next national convention con-vention for Salt Lake City, as tho decorations of the U. C. T. will bo iu place and will add to the attractiveness attractive-ness of the city. It will also be possible possi-ble for the entertainers to point to what is being done for tho coming of tho "knights of the grip" and dilate on the beauties of Salt Lake and its advantages as a place for entertainment entertain-ment of large bodies of people. Big National Order: A special invitation is extended to all of the fraternal organizations of the city to take part in this entertainment, entertain-ment, especially the. orders which have clubhouses, so-" that the coming delegates dele-gates may bo sufficiently impressed with the means at hand for taking care of tho convention, which it is hoped may be secured for Salt Lake Citv three" years honce. Tho Modern Woodmen of America is composed of moro than A50.000 members, mem-bers, and at head camps thero aro more than oOOO uniformed Foresters who will encamp in military fashion and present one of the most attractive ininginablo sights with their evolutions and drills. The convention is composed of over GOO delegates, and it is expected that it will attract to tho citv a large number of people who will not only leave large sums of money here, but will advertise the beauties and resources of Salt Lake Citv all over the count iy. Tho convention was held several vears ago in Denver, but has never been farther west. The holding of the convention con-vention in this city, which on account of the great expense to tho members is hold overy three years, has already been indorsed by the Commercial club, and tho entertainment of the delegates Thursday i"? believed to be one of tho most effective means of obtaining their indorsement for the triennial convention conven-tion of 1911 in Salt Lake City. |
