Show "ffilKpiETEB Great Blaze of Electric Lights Will Welcome Visitors lo , TJ.G.T. Outing. - MAIN STREET TO BE BRILLIANT SETTING Emblems of the Order Will Be Displayed in Down Town Districts. "Final decorations for the fifth annual outing and grand council meeting of tho United Commercial Travelers were started Monday morning, and it is expected ex-pected that by tho end of the week much of the work will be ready for J.he final touches. Already tho rooms of the Commercial club havo been hung with, gnj' festoons of paper in the colors of the order blue, white and old gold and additional decorations are rapidly being put into place. All along Main street festoons of tiny electric lamps have been strung from 'polo to pole, and workmen are engaged night and day in getting ready the new street lamps which line the principal streets. Nono of the features of the lighting arrangements has yet been set up, but a few days will see a number of handsome hand-some set pieces which will shine out on the nights of June 18, 19 and 20 and will make all Main street and Second South, from State street to West Temple, Tem-ple, appear like a sceno in Fairyland. Main Street Decorations. The decorations on Main street will bo arranged so as to bring out some of the characteristics of the Commercial Commer-cial Travelers. At the Brighani Young monument, in the midst of a huge blazo of electric lights, will bo an illuminated reproduction of a c-onimercial traveler's grip. A little way down the block will be an enormous letter "II" brightly lighted with electric lamps. At the intersection of Maih and First South will be a gigantic electric sign, with the word "Welcome." Halfway between be-tween First and Second South will be a huge letter "C," and at the intersection inter-section of Main and Second South the official emblem of the order, the crescent cres-cent and grip, brightly outlined in electric elec-tric lamps. In the middle of the next block will be the lingo letter "T." and at tho intersection of Main and Third South will be a trunk made after tho most approved of commercial travelers' models and brightly illuminated. As Bright as Day. Tn addition io the above, there will be large signs, with appropriate mottoes, mot-toes, at the Oregon Short Line and l?io Grando Western depots, so that all people who come lo the city in the evening will be in the midst of daylight even in the nighttime. All along Main street and on Second South will bo small transparencies made in the shape of commercial travelers' grips, with the letters "U. C. T." on each side. Small Hags bearing tho letters L. C. T." have been prepared to bo placed on sale bv manv of the dealers in tho citv, and it is expected that there will be" no reason whv nnv one who comes here shall not know that "the boys" are having tho time of their lives and don't care who knows it. Thero will also be in the middle of every block a huge pyramid of lights with clusters formed so as to represent tho letters "TT. C. T." . The committee appointed to have charge of the exterior decorating is competed of the Mayors of Ogden, Provo and of Salt Lake, respectu-ely. A. L. Brewer, F. Decker and .John S. Bransford. |
