Show PATRIOTIC DECLARATION Action of the Synod of Utah on Hierarchic Hie-rarchic Claims. Tho synod of Utah, in session in iioiao, Ida., took tho following unanimous action on Thursday, October 11, in reference to tho claims of tho Mormon hierarchy. The synod of Utah, composed of tho Presbytery of Utah, and of tho two Presbyteries of Boiso and Kendall, occupying tho southern half of Idaho, in session at Boise, Ida., from October 0 to 11, tho Woman's Syuodical society so-ciety joining Tvith tho synod, does hereby heartily approve and indorso tho following timely and patriotic utterance ut-terance of tho Presbyterian general assembly, in scspion at Des Moines, la., from May 17 to 26, 1000, an ns-sc'mbly ns-sc'mbly composed of over GOO delegates, dele-gates, from twenty-eight States and Territories: "Whereas, Tho Mormon hierarchy claims tho right and authority to make constitutions, constitu-tions, presidents nnd kings, and also" asserts that there is no lawful or authorized covern-ment covern-ment hut tho covornment of tho Mormon priesthood; and, Whereas, Its teachers, claiming inspiration, doelnro that tho Government of tho United States and all other governments, must bo uprooted, and, "Whereas, Rood Smoot, claJminc; to bo an apostle of Jesus Christ, with all authority is jiving in harmony with this teaching, and In harmony with tho prophot, seer and revo-lntor, revo-lntor, Josoph F Smith, and other apostles, who havo 6 worn that thoy aro living in violation vio-lation of tho law of God and of the Stato of Utah; and. Wheroas, These violators of law aro a treasonable trea-sonable organization; therefore. Resolved, That as citizens of this Government, Govern-ment, wo earnestly petition tho Senate of tho United States to declare his (Smoot'o) scat vacant, and thus help remove this menaco to our freo institutions. Resolved, That wo urgo all of our minis-tors minis-tors to Inform themselves of tho treasonable teachings of the Mormon hierarchy, in refor-onco refor-onco to civil government and citizen rights. |
