ONE KILLED, MANY HURT Frightful Wreck of Crowded Street Car Occurs in Los Angeles. LOS ANGELES, Oct. 13. One man was instantly killed and upward of- a score of people injured, many of thorn seriouslv and pornaps fatally, in the frightful wrecking of a street car -on the Brooklyn avenue lino of tho Intor-urbau Intor-urbau Railroad company at tho intersection inter-section of Macv, Pleasant and Bridge streets 'at 7 o'clock this morning. Tho car, crowded with .passengers on their way to work in the city, got beyond tho control 'of the motornlau on the steep .hill, and rushing at lightning speed down the incline, left the track at, the bottom of the hiU. where there is a sharp curve, and crashing into a telephone tele-phone pole, was overturned and completely com-pletely wrecked. Out of tho forty three passengers on .the car but lew escaped without somo injury. . W A Barrett, age 4o, electrician, 3044 Washington avenue, is dead as a result of his injuries. The accident is attributed to faulty hi a c hi n e ry .
