Show KILLS TO SAVE GIRL Colorado Ranchman Shoots Down Son-in-Law Who Threatened Bride. GRAXD JUNCTION. Colo., Dec. 27. Allan Thompson, aged 28 years, was shot and instantly killed by 'his father-in-law, "Riley Paton, a well-known ranchman ranch-man living two and a half miles southwest south-west of Colburn, in the Plateau valley, east of Grand Junction. Thompson was drunk and had first threatened to kill Paton. After being quieted, he went to Mrs. Thompson's bedroom and threatened threat-ened to kill her. Paton followed his son-in-law into the room, and. believing his daughter was about 1o be murdered, fired one shot at Thompson, the charge taking effect just below the left collarbone. Thompson was dead before his body strnck the floor. Paton immediatcly rode to Colburn and surrendered to Deputy Sheriff 0. B. Oakley. Thompson had no particular home, and at the time of the tragedy was living liv-ing at, the Paton ranch with his father-in-law and mother-in-law. Thompson was addicted to drink, and when under the influence of liquor would become abusive and threaten eve'onc he did not like. lie spent last night in Colburn, leaving for the Paton ranch after midnight, mid-night, considerably intoxicated.
