DENIES INTERFERENCE WITH NATIONAL COMMITTEE Discusses Railroad Legislation and Says Giving of Passes Is Corrupting. TOPEKA, Kan., Dec. 27. In an interview in-terview here today, William J. Bn-nn practically admitted that he would bo a candidate for the Presidential nomination nomi-nation before the next Democratic National Na-tional convention. " While 1 have not vet announced that I would be a candidate," said Mr. Bryan, "1 have not. stated that I would not be a candidate, and do not intend to. Such a high honor ns the Presidential nomination is something that no American citizen should dc-I dc-I cline. " Mr. Bryan declared that h had never stated the President ftooaevelt had stolen the thunder of the Democrats, Demo-crats, although, he said, the President was now advocating many things favored fa-vored by that party. Denies Stone Story. Mr. Brvan said there was no foundation founda-tion for the story that had been printed to the effect that he would, if nominated, nomi-nated, favor the selection of Senator William Stone of Missouri as chairman iif tho Democratic National committee. commit-tee. "I do not even know that I will be interested in it further than that I do not want to see men on the committee who aro not clean men, who want a government, for the people and not for the trusts. I l do not care to see men on the coin-mil coin-mil tee like Eogcr Sullivan of Illinois." In speaking of the railroad legislation legisla-tion onncted by Congress at its last session, ho stated that ho did not believe be-lieve the legislation was what it should bo, but he thinks that the President took what ho could got. lie said the giving of railroad passes was one of tho most corrupting influences exercised exer-cised in this country.
