Show THE FINANCIAL SHOWING. "We print on another page of this morning's Tribune a'financial statement from the office of (he City Treasurer, which shows in concise form Iho slalus of the city's overdraft, its receipts, and its disbursements, these latter covering eight months of the present year. It will be seen that the overdraft is large; but it must be remembered, as the statement referred lo shows, thai the taxes of thu year are yet to come in. The proportion of these for the eight months is computed, and it is shown that the net cash improvement in expense funds after the collection of taxes has been' made is :rcil,3(57.-l). This is for the two-thirds year that has passed. It is an excellent showing. Besides, as is shown, the city treasury treas-ury is entitled in credits of sums on various extensions, sidewalks, sewer, street paving, curbs, and " gutters, of $!)7,737.7S; and this sum, adder! lo Iho gain above shown, aggregates :?ly'J,-105.27. :?ly'J,-105.27. And so ihc American party scores again, to the advantage of the people, especially of the taxpavcrs, and to itrf own as manager of the city's public affairs. . ' |
