There Is a serious situation at Ajizon as a result of the refusal of. tho Papago Indian tribe to surrender aj Indian named Johns, who murdered a Mexican about two weeks ago. The Indian polh) and deputy sheriffs reported that they arc unable to effect the arrest of Johns. Shcrllf Pacheco called upon tho Rangers Rang-ers for help toda. and ten of them under Captain Harry Wheeler, with the sheriffs sher-iffs posse, is on the way to tho scene, which Ip remote and Inaccessible, in the west end of Pima county, one hundred miles from Tucson. Several mining camps are locatod in the mountains nearby. The Indians are usually peaceable, but now threaten death to any whites who venture ven-ture In their village. |
