Vie-torv. a Democrat: Postmaster Walter, aurl other citizens, today called upon Governor Curry to urge him to call a constitutional convention within two months, so that a constitution may be drafted, submit tod and adopted by the people before Congress meets after the holidays, with a pica for admission to statehood. It is proposed to call together the delegates elected to draft tbe constitution consti-tution 3ft cr the joint statehood plan a 3rear ago, most of whom have expressed ex-pressed themselves as willing- to serve without eoinpeusatiou. Governor Curry declared himself in heartv accord with this plan and promised prom-ised "to iako action, alter his return from a consultation with President Boosevclt in October. Within the past few dayb nearly evory newspaper in New Mexico has come out in favor of holding a constitutional convention this fall, and sentiment for statehood is , practically unanimous. |
