Show PROPOSAL TO INCREASE THE TARIFF ON BEER It is given ont from a reliable source that tho trans-Missouri freight bureau, which was in session hero for two days, djd not arrive at a definite conclusion con-clusion with regard to any of the matters mat-ters presented iti them, but that action was rarriod cvct till tho meeting at Glonwood Springs, Colo., in September. Among the questions considered at tho last sossion was a proposed" advaiico on the rate for beer. This advance, something in the neighborhood of o cents por 100, was opposed by tho agents hore of the Eastern "concerns, and the local brewers, it is understood, favor the increase. The agents of tho Eastern brewers claim that an advance in the tariff would have to be met by tho retailers here, not by the brewers and that it would virtually put thom out of business. No decision was arrived ar-rived at as railroad representatives have to place the matter beforo thoir superiors.- |
