Show ContractorsOrderedto Begin Work on Walks This Is Under the New Plan, Which Allows Five Years in Which to Pay Cost. In accordance with the resolution of to Council, passed Mcnday night, the Board of Public Worlca yesterday ordered or-dered the contractors to begin work on a number of sidewalk extensions under the new plan, which allows the property prop-erty owners five years in which to pay the cost. In Accord With Scrip Law. The resolution was In at cordatice with the scrip law passed by the last Legislature, Leg-islature, rt ii d avoids the delays heretofore hereto-fore Incident to public Improvements by reason of the provision which required re-quired the payment of one-third of the assessment into the treasury before work could be ordered. Many Extensions in View. The City Council has in contemplation contempla-tion the ordering of a large number of sidewalk extensions during the summer sum-mer and fall, tho new plan making It easy on th property owners The banks are all anxious to carry the scrip provlilcl Dy the new law and it Ifl therefore there-fore thought there will be little opposition oppo-sition in future to sidewalk extensions Street Paving- Plan Not Matured. On street improvements it Is contem-plated contem-plated to make the time ten years, but thus far no street paving plan has- matured ma-tured sufficiently to put the plan into operation, |
