When Salt Lake peddlers cease to cheat, And hens lay none but .standard eggs; When on the cars there's no "end scat." Nor squeezing past cash other's legs; When nil of Brlgham street is paved. And other streets shall follow suit. When o'er all schools the Flag Is waved, And honest crates hold hnnefat fruit; When walks no more are foul with spittle, And loafers don't obstruct the pntn; When chimney glass Ik never brittS-i; When wealth Isn't forced on him that hath. While poor men ever poorer grow; When no one kicks about the mails; When furmurs get enough of snow. And merchants own abundant nuU s; When Councllmen no longer wrangle. And offices shall seek the man; When clubs and school boards cease to Jangle; When sawdust Isn't sold for bran; When horses got their share of oats, And hostlers don't grow fat on stealings, And there arc no more whlskv bloats. And men respect each others feelings; When order reigns at all resorts Where people go for rccr-iitlon; When those who doctor corns and wartB Insure against resuscitation; When all these things snail come to o.iss.
