A rumor ru-mor Is current at the Admiralty that the Japanese ship Yashima Is on the rocks near Port Arthur. Rumors that the Yashima had been lost have been repeatedly circulated since June 8, when it was reported that she had been sunk by a mine off Ta-Henwan. Ta-Henwan. Other reports said the battleship bat-tleship Shlklshima, and not tho Yashima, Ya-shima, had been sunk off Talicnwan. Both reports originated from Chinese sources. Tho Yashima Is a first-class battleship battle-ship of 12.300 tons displacement. She was built In England, was completed In 1S97, Is heavily armored and carries four twelve-Inch guns, ten six-Inch guns and twenty-four smaller guno. Her estimated speed is over nineteen knots. |
