Show BINGHAM TOOK PRIZE IN DRILLING CONTEST Special lo The Tribune. PROVO. Utah. June 10. The miners' I contest In drilling came off at 4 o'clock with three entires in the double-hand class and two entries ln the single-hand bout. After casting lots they struck in the following order: First, Eureka; second, Bingham, and third. Park City. James Gillespie of Eureka acted as referee, and John Westfall and George Ross as timekeepers. Time, fifteen fif-teen minutes for each team to work. John Minguretle and Ed Lewis of Eureka were the first to strike and were complimented for their scientific work. They did it to 32i inches. Bingham, Bing-ham, with Jeff Caughan and Harry Mc-Mullen, Mc-Mullen, walked off with the pie. receiving re-ceiving $150 for driving the steel to the tune of 39?s inches. , O'Neill and John P. Harlngton of Park City did fine work and received the praise and admiration of the boys from the other camps. They tied the Eureka team, making 321i Inches. The Park team lost about half an Inch of steel from one of the drills nt tho 12-mlnutc mark. From then to the finish they made slow progress. The single-handed boys wero both ! from Eureka, Tom Mansfield drilled lGVa inches. John Mingurctto took the $75 for driving lt 10 Inches. A game of ball between Provo and American Fork was played today, resulting re-sulting 7 to 13. In favor of Provo. |
