Show Resume of Week in Iron Market. NEW YORK, March 31. Southern Ironmakers, well filled as they arc with orders until well toward July, have been taking a moderate additional tonnage, ton-nage, says tho Iron Age, on the basis of $10 for No. 2 foundry, Birmingham. Some occasional sales, however, are V.tlll being made at $9.75. It Is the Northern makers who have been taking tak-ing a relatively larger amount of orders or-ders lately, the whole market being decidedly de-cidedly firmer both on foundry and forge plg-lron. The whole Eastern iron trade Is watching with keen Interest the developments devel-opments ln the filing of the contracts of casting for the Pennsylvania tunnel. Some low prices are being talked of. Bessemer pig In the central West Is firm, and the product is being freely taken. Next week will decide whether the option on 40,000 tons additional metal will be availed of by the United States Steel corporation.
