Show Senator William Boyd Allison, of Iowa, who was suddenly taken 111 the other day, Is reported as Improving. But he is getting to be an old man, and a sudden sharp illness may be at any time a serious thins for him. He is past 3eventy-five, and has served in tho Senate for more than thirty-one years. When his presentj term expires he will have been a United States Senator for thirty-six years, and ho will be eighty years of age. As a Senator, he has been prominent fr many years for his wisdom, wis-dom, conservatism and wide knowledge of public affairs. He Is a man to whom the Senate always listens with respect and deference, for he Is considered at once an authorltiy on pretty much everything that comes up, and as a member who Is thoroughly to be defended de-fended upon for his candor and good faith. |
