The Senate Sen-ate Committee on Indian Affairs concluded con-cluded consideration of the bill making appropriations for the Indian depart? mont, and will report to the Senate Monday next. Aa amended by the Senate committee much additional legation is included, which for the most part relates to the :. Indian Territory. Among othor things the committee Incorporated in the bill ' appropriations to carry Into effect treaties with the Klamath and Modoc tribes and the Yaahoskln baud of Snake Indians In Oregon, $537,500. It has been provided by the Senate committee that any person who la now, or who may be In the employ of the United States, shall be prohibited from purchasing, leafing or taking any interest in-terest In any Indian lands, the distribution distri-bution of which- was pending during such person's employment, until after , the expiration pf two years from the termination of such employments I $25,000 FOR INDIAN EXHIBIT. An appropriation of $25,000 was ln- ; corporated In the bill for exhibits from ; Indian agencies at the St. Louis ex- I position. The Secretary of the Interior Is authorized to make sales of land in Indian Territory covered by coal and asphalt leases, subject to the right of the Iess.ee to use as much of the 'surface ! ' as' may be needed for such structures as are generally used In the production and shipment of coal and coke.
