Show STATE ENGINEERS Will MEET TODAY Important Conference of Officials on Subjects of Great Interest to This Section. STATE Engineers of several mountain moun-tain States'wlll hold a meeting today to-day in the oflice of State Engineer Engi-neer A. F. Doremus in this city for the purpose of conferring together upon irrigation and other matters of interstate importance. The meeting was called by State Engineer Clarence T. Johnston of Wyoming with the idea that a mutual understanding of the policies pol-icies being pursued by the several States In the conserving of waters and the extension of irrigation projects might prove beneficial to all concerned. Concerted Con-certed action may be timely and desirable de-sirable in many Instances, it is believed, be-lieved, for the reason that there is no occasion for rivalry among the States In regard to Government irrigation projects. pro-jects. The Government stands ready to take up any promising scheme for the extension of irrigation In the arid States that may be presented, and under un-der the new reclamation law is accumulating accu-mulating funds for the purpose even more rapidly than they are called for. The important thing now appears for the people to get together In applying to the Government for the carrying out of feasible projects, and the Engineers will endeavor to formulate plans to facilitate fa-cilitate wise action. Those already here for the meeting are State Engineer Clarence T. Johnston John-ston of Wyoming, State Engineer A. E. Chandler, of Nevada and Government Hydrographer T. S. Chandler of North Dakota. State Engineers Wade of Montana Mon-tana and Wayne Dorrington of Idaho are expected to arrive today. |
