Former Governor West Is now a special spe-cial agent of the Treasury department and ho is in the city to confer with Surveyor J. J. Greenwald of the Port of Delivery concerning the duties of the oltlce just established. "I um especially pleased to get back to Salt Lake City ngaln," said Gov. i West. "It Is a gTeat pleasure to take my old friends by the hand and to talk over the old days. I suppose I shall never become weaned away from the old home. In fact, I have never voted anywhere since leaving tho State. I have been too busy with my duties with the Treasury department to give attention at-tention to politics. I hardly know whnt Is going on in the political world. "I cannot tell you who will win out in the Democratic convention in California. Cali-fornia. Really I ilid not know there was to be a convention held there this week I am no longer In politics. "No, It is not strange that one like myself, so long in active politics, should drop out. It is tho most natural thing In the world. Tou young men aro tho politicians now. I have had my day." Gov. West was formerly from Kentucky. Ken-tucky. He was appointed Territorial Governor during Cleveland's first administration. ad-ministration. Harrison let him out and named present Postmaster Arthur L. Thomas in his stoad.
