Show BOOKKEEPER IS MISSING W M Clement Sought by His Wife and by People Who Have His Worthless Checks s I 77 William M Clement a bookkeeper < employed at the National Bank of the Republic is thought to be among the missing A diligent search about tho city yesterday on the part of several of his friends and his wife failed to develop de-velop any trace of his whereabouts His disappearance occurred Sunday evenIng even-Ing Among his friends there are1n Y number who are exceedingly anxJousTo learn where he Is The reasons are the same in half a dozen cases viz worth I less checks on the bank where tho I young man has been employed The I checks are for small amounts The five which were returned to the bank yesterday to be stamped with the legend le-gend worthless aggregated about SCO But there may be more to hear from It Is thought at the bank President Frank Knox said last night that tho young man Is not short In his accounts as he did not have a position where crooked work would be possible Mr Knox expressed great surprise at Clements action in circulating the worthless checks saying that the young man has during the time he has been employed at the bank been considered I entirely honest and trustworthy As he had given notice that he Intended In-tended resigning his position little attention at-tention was paid to the fact that he tailed to show up at the bank yesterday > orning However when the worthless worth-less checks began coming In it was decided de-cided unless Clement shows up within I a few days to report the matter to tha police The largest 6f the worthless checks to turn up so far Is for 15 and was cashed at the Knutsford hotel Sig Simon Si-mon cashed another of the checks for 10 Richardson Adams another for UO Davis Shoe company one for 10 and A T Dorscy one for 5 Clement has a wife and four children In Salt Lake |
