51202551005 this exceeding all previous records In the career of Its diggings and exceeding that of ISM by 2747 p 90618 An analysis of the table which appears on the sixteenth page In this Issue of The Tribune shows that to the Increased production of gold and copper cop-per the SUite Is chiefly indebted for the magnificent gain the silver Increasing slightly and lead showing a shrinkage f shrink-age That these metals do not appear larger In the columns of gains however Is easily accounted account-ed for Hitherto gingham has t shown an astonishing production of c both silver and lead During the year 1S93 the main sources from which the State had derived these metals wore practically shut up and the extraction of silver and lead ores subordinated to the further development of ore bodies from which they have been derived In the camps of Tlntic there was also an enormous shrinkage in the lead and silver production This was unlike Blngham due to natural changes in the metallic contents of Its ores lead and silver diminishingwhile the percentages of copper and gold showed Increases that were almost sensational The same may In said with reference to the increase In-crease In copper at Blngham where the Utah Consolidated or Highland Roy has been since last June making a most remarkable record In the production produc-tion of copper In 19SJ the camps of the commonwealth produced 5333035 c pounds of copper that brought Its producers pro-ducers 43fi6010J In 1890 the same camps produced 99C73CO pounds of copper cop-per that sold for 1240000 In 1S9S the camps of the State produced 1OIOO ounces of gold that brought 2008000 In 1899 the output of gold was swelled to 173266 ounces that earned the producers pro-ducers 3465320 The mines of Mercur continued at the top of the golden stair and contributed G147G ounces of gold to the output Tintlc In 1S98 produced 93C1 ounces of gold while In 1S99 with the production of the Centennial Eureka Eu-reka and other producers of whose output out-put gold IB a prominent feature suspended sus-pended for many months the output of gold from Its camps was Increased to M44S ounces The record of gold at Park City during the year shows an equally gratifying Increase and from practically a handful the previous year rose to 7572 ounces In 1899 A comparison on the output of silver and lead during the year just clipped from the calendar Is not without interest inter-est In iSiS the camps of the State were productive of fiQJIG100 pounds of load that sold for 231399800 while In 1S99 tho output aggregated 90002300 pounds that brought 52701SC9 Considering Con-sidering the natural shrinkage In the production of lead ore at Tlnllc and the deliberate curtailment at Blngham the exhibit Is by no means an unfavorable one In the production of this metal Park City was overwhelmingly In the lead its output of lead In 1899 reachIng reach-Ing a total of 31257500 pounds while in 1S9S Us production was but 2S21C900 Since then however the DalyWest has joined the procession the Anchor has Increased Its output and the Ontario 4 has resumed In 1S98 the total production produc-tion of silver was 7511722 ounces of the valuo of 140335423 while In 1899 it was kept down to 773G24G ounces of the value of 101235105 by an enforced Idleness Idle-ness at some of the mines In which that metal predominates and the voluntary withdrawal of others from the market Park City was the principal producer + of this metal during the year Us output out-put in 1899 reaching a total of 2129475 ounces ORES ON HAND Upon the testimony year has been the prodigality with which Eastern as well as local talent has Invested in them Quoting from the prominent transactions alone the record which is necessarily Incomplete Incom-plete owing to the silent trading which has been done during the period 17 8J5000 has been expended on the acquisition ac-quisition of mines and mining territory In the arlous mining camps without reference to sums applied to equipment and development A compilation of the smaller deals would no doubt increase the total Invested to 20000000 And this would have been materially Increased In-creased had traders been able to get together The most sensational transaction trans-action of the year perhaps was that in which Samuel Ncwhouse and the Standard Oil crowd of Boston were the principals In that deal the latter shelled out 1000000 for 100000 shares of Utah Consolidated or Highland Boy of Blngham which lot with previous I investments in the same stock gave the latter the control of the companys mines and smelter Then there was absorption of the valley smelters by the American SmeltIng Smelt-Ing and Refining company which went Into Its cashmeres for 2155000 Another An-other purchase was that Involving the Old Jordan and Galena tile Old Telegraph Tele-graph and Niagara groups at Blngham for which the United States Oil crowd of Boston forked out 2055000 and then turned them into the possession of the United States Mining company A few weeks later the same hand of opulence reached out and to Its purchase In this commonwealth added the Centennial Eureka of Tlntic for which It paid 2100000 these Investments to be followed fol-lowed the present year by the erection of a smelter Then there was lie acquisition ac-quisition of the Copper Mountain group by Lewlssohn Bros of New York the placing of the Blngham Copper and Gold Mining company treasury stock on the Eastern market and the tying UP of the Bullion group In the southwest south-west corner of the State by I James Campbell of St Louis for 1000000 The purchase of the Dragon Iron group of Tintlc by Samuel Ncwhouso and others for 5200000 and lie big trade by Mrln lyre Bios in Mammoth stock Involving 250000 were both notable transactions transac-tions and to afford an Idea of the big deals that have been consummated The Tribune has selected the following from tile record 4 SOMI5 TRADES IK1S09 Lowlssohn Bros of New
