orphanage was finished luring lur-ing the year and Is now occupied The city put in a new fire station at Fourth and I streets and three buildings on the new Slate University site were completed The magnificent library gift of John Q Packard to Salt Lake City promises to add much to the attractiveness at-tractiveness of State street Mr Packard Pack-ard contributed ground worth 20000 and pledged himself to erect t building build-ing l at a cost of 75000 on the site the hole being given to the city Ground has already been broken for the proposed l pro-posed clubhouse of the Salt Lake Elks The building will probably be ready I for occupancy by next August and the plans show that It will be a line structure struc-ture The erection of the library buildIng build-Ing and the Elks home together with the present Ala club building all being be-ing on the same square will add much to the appearance of this section of State street Brigham street residence property is now ruling according to the
