Show I THE YEAR AT DIAMOND Fine Disclosures of Coppsr in the Tesora and Other Properties The diama of development t at Diamond Dia-mond Tintlc district whllfc not enlisting enlist-ing < o many as during the i lrLvlouli I year was nevertheless an active one and not without most satisfactory results re-sults A lack of funds compelled not a few lo close down until such time as the treasury was refilled while i down in t X draV several Avure overcome over-come by water The Tcaora that had passed Inlo the control of the Bingham I Copper and Gold Mining company wan not only the most interesting but by far the most productive of tile propositions I prop-ositions In the locality and although the I active extraction of ores was not begun until October between that time I and the close of the year as much as 1500 tons Avas sent to the bins of the Bingham Copper and Gold Mining company com-pany at whose plant the Tesoras output out-put will be treated Underground the I development has been steady throughout through-out the year and at Its close the vein had been opened up on the companys teirltory for no less than SOO feet With the exception of about 150 eel ore Is I revealed the entire distance some of 1 it showing sensational valuation The I Tesora although productive of much I sIlver and gold In former years Is essentially es-sentially a coppergold proposition and Avlth depth should become one of the most productive of Tlntlcs mines The ore occurs in three classes the first reaching as much as 22 per cent copper cop-per with gold and slIver values while the second averages about 12 In addition ad-dition to tills a large amount of milling ore has been exposed and to profitably handle this the company will erect a mill the present year To that end experiments have been conducted during dur-ing the previous year and with abundant abund-ant water at the mine with which to supply the proposed plant the treatment treat-ment of those ores should be on very economical basis To add to Its holdings hold-ings the Tesora company In 1900 secured se-cured a bond on the Treasure Hill and Cornucopia mines for which It baa bound Itself to pay 10000 on or before the expiration of another year and In December work was started on these properties from which a great deal of ore vas mined In former years The Tesora closed the year wIth the stop Ing of ore going on at no less than seven dliforent places along the vein at a depth of 200 feet while an equally good showing > at a depth of 37fr feet The Shovels Com The ShdWrM Consolidated d the year with the production of nearly GOO tons of ore that was marketed on controls showing an average 10 percent per-cent lead and 50 ounces slIver per ton In addition to this much of the ore showed as much as 25 per cent copper while none of it contained less than 1 per cent In other parts of the property prop-erty copper ores of extremely high grade were uncovered and the management man-agement now leans strongly to the be llof that at depth the Showers like the Tesora Avill hao developed into a copper cop-per mine In addition to the shipping ores that were developed during the year the management opened up a great deal of good milling value and to handle this concentration Avill be re snrtpfl 1 lo I ho nrosont war Thf mine has i Just been i proAlded I with an air corn = pressor by which two power drills will I be operated and after exhaustively prospecting the ground upon the 300 and 400foot levels sinking will be resumed re-sumed The outlook at tho Showers Is very encouraging Shoebridge Bonanza On the mines of this company work was prosecuted steadily throughout the year and the ground prospected to a depth of 550 feet Small lots of ore were sent to market but nothing like steady production was attempted although al-though Col Henry G lleffron who Is managing It feels that the present year will place It among tho steady shippers ship-pers of the locality In addition to tho high grade ores encountered at the mine a large amount of milling has been exposed as in the neighboring properties and while Jigging was attempted at-tempted it I Proved unsatisfactory during dur-ing the year A short time ago while prospecting the heavy outcrop at the mine a carbonate of lead was encountered encount-ered awl as the earlier performances of the Suoebrldgc Bonanza were based upon very high grade silver and lead ores there Is i a possibility of history repeating Itself in 1901 Superintendent Superintend-ent Carrulhers Is indeed very enthusiastic enthu-siastic over the outlook The Joe Bowers From the property at the Joe Bowers Bow-ers company during the year there was shipped 225 tons of ore while a veil > 1 large AOiume ot mining wus uijeuuu ui > and made ready for extraction when moans of concentration shall have been provided At the same time the shaft i was sunk from the 300foot level to a j further depth of 400 where at 90 feet I I south connection was made with the Avorklngs of the Showers for air On I l the south the company is now sinking a winze on ore some of which Is beIng I be-Ing raised Cor shipment I I r Bowers Extension After a persevering struggle against great financial odds the Joe Bowers Extension suspended operations In September Sep-tember although some shipping wIth considerable milling ore was being opened up and work will not likely be resumed before spring While the property Is viewed with favor by a large number In Diamond It has never rallied from the effects of the litigation litiga-tion to which it was subjected although al-though this should not have been permitted per-mitted to affect its possibilities The Lesser Lights number of In the same locality are a others that are being worked in a desultory des-ultory way The Blue Bird was compelled com-pelled to close down because of the fiow of water encountered by It and of good Just at a point when ores quality had been uncovered aa was also the New Klondike The Home stake failed to strike a blow during tho yeah and while the Buckeye vas operated ope-rated under lease it was finally abandoned aban-doned for the year Just south of Diamond Uncle Jesse Knight and his associates of the Sunrise Mining company com-pany have been steadily developing that ground into which BL tunnel was I run for about 1200 feet From this prospecting is In progress and important Import-ant results are relied on the present year Otherwise the prospects in that reclon have been Inactive |
