Show We invite the New Berne, N. C, Jlepublican to come to Utah and bring his editorial quill with him. He has made a discovery. Ho lias found out tho "divinity that doth hedge around" a Judge; for a Judge, ho say.-;, "represents "re-presents the majesty of the law, aud in his presence all meu must keep silence. ' There's a lift for judicial Judges! Ono Judge Brooks, in North Carolina, was present at a railroad depot in Salisbury, Salis-bury, when a tight took place between District Attorney Starbuck and Clerk of Court Larkins of tho one part, aud Messrs. Wilson, Beard and Mitchell of tho other; which the Judge sought to quell by pitching into Beard with bis cane. But either tho cane or the judicial judi-cial arm wasn't potent enough, and tho Judge ordered the three under arrest ar-rest for contempt of court! And this tho Hepublican man defends and lauds! So, a Judge is a Court whether sitting on the bench, throwing himself outside a stomach-warmer, or belaboring belabor-ing an antagonist at a railway depot! It is not surprising that Mr. New Borne fit-publican should announce himself in the same issue of his paper a "carpet-bagger aud a scalawag." But we again invite him to Utah. Our judicial Judges could furnish work for him; and could appreciate the logic that would require "all men" to "keep silent" in their presence! How is that tor "re publican ism?" But what are the lawyers to do? If they "mnst keep silent" iu tho presence of the Judge, Othello's occupation's goue with a vengeance. |
